A team working on patient safety in the operating room and other hospital settings has been recognized by the Center for Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technology, a consortium of Boston-area hospitals and universities.
The Medical Device PnP Program -- short for plug-and-play -- has won the Edward M. Kennedy Award for Healthcare Innovation. The goal of the doctors and scientists, led by Dr. Julian M. Goldman (left) of Massachusetts General Hospital, is to link medical devices and electronic systems so that information can be exchanged and medical errors minimized.
