1 September 2009, Boston - Mathew Connor first popped up almost a year ago on the CIMIT Prize Facebook page, little did we know he would be taking home one of our top student awards with his iPhone App, iAbetics. iAbetics has just been featured in mobihealthnews.com, or you can read the full article by Princeton University. The App brings a new ray of hope to diabetics living in an increasingly mobile, battery run world. iAbetics also helps to advance the platform of truly useful patient focused apps, which healthcare reform demands.
You might remember Apple teaming up with a J&J company during the OS 3.0 release to spec out some nifty iPhone related products, like this blood pressure cuff. At the time those devices were just graphic mock-ups, visions of what might someday be, but they represented a very vivid dream for patients and providers.
Today, we are a little bit closer because of Mathew Connor and his great new app contender, iAbetics. You may not be surprised to learn that at the time of his award Mathew was quietly working away as a sophomore undergrad. We are all expecting big things to come...
iAbetics helps diabetics learn from their body, while bringing physicians a better picture of their patients life
